Proxies not working? IP blacklisted

Postby grinnelldp » Sun Apr 01, 2012 2:28 am

I may just not understand exactly how these proxies work in regards to this software, but I assumed that it would hide your real IP address when searching and posting on blog comments through the No Hands Seo software.

I have been running the software for a few weeks now, on and off, and I recently became aware that my IP address is now on a block list @ stopforumspam.com. When I legitimately tried to sign up to a forum today, I got denied with an error saying my IP was blocked because it is on this "spam list". I went to the website and searched for my IP address and sure enough mine was there with the details showing 2 instances where it was reported from blogs comments with my No Hands Seo keywords as the title. This is the only software I have been using for doing these blog comment backlinks so I assume it has to be from this.

So I guess my question is - When No Hands SEO posts the blog comments, does it use my real IP address? I am using all the default settings including proxy harvester.

Thanks!

As the popup help for the Proxy Harvester option explains the proxy harvester will search for proxies to use in searching not posting. If you do not use proxies for posting you will be using your own IP address. In the majority of cases an IP address is easy to change by simpy restarting your router.

Any tool capable of posting to other websites can result in this which is why all decent SEO tools have proxy options to prevent this. Ultimately it is normally very easy to get removed from these lists by applying to be taken off them.

Ok, that makes sense. I guess I should have poked through the settings a little more to answer my own question. Does simply checking the box for "Use Proxies" under the Proxy for Posting setting use the proxies from the proxy harvester or do I need to use alternate proxies for that? Thanks!

No, public proxies give a really horrible success rate so the decision was made to not make that an option. Most complaints of low links created are due to problems with proxies

Better to have 10 links with IP whitelisted then to have 1 link with IP blacklisted though no matter how much ones proxies suck. You could just have a large warning that say "Most of the time this will generate less links" or whatever. :)

Yep, I noticed that my IP is now blacklisted at stopforumspam as well...
