limiting PR ramifications

Postby revekozu » Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:05 pm

I was considering the pros and cons of using the minimum PR settings.

Cons:
  • Increased CPU usage. I'm not sure this is still a big problem since CPU usage seems to be largely under control with latest updates.
  • Fewer Link opportunities

Pros:
  • Higher PR Links, less spammy link profile
  • Reduced bandwidth on your private proxies.

The last one I'm wondering about... Reduced bandwidth on your private proxies.

Assuming you use private proxies for posting and either public proxies or proxies from harvester for searching. Would it be true that the proxies for posting are not used unless a minimum PR url is found to comment on?

My VPS most the time has CPU and memory to spare, so I'm thinking I might get more out of the tool by going for higher pr sites, running more pages and profiles at once, while not worrying about my private proxies getting hammered.

Searching proxies are used for any action that involves the search engine so this is what is used for checking the PR. I still advise only using private proxies if limiting by PR to ensure accurate PR values. Checking for PR will not use more system resources, it will slow posting and limit results but not increase system usage.

Yeah, I wasn't completing my thought... It's a matter of finding the right balance in the settings and I'm exploring limiting posting with pr.

So... if I were to limit the use of private proxies with fewer posts from limiting pr.... then i would increase the number of threads for searching since that number wouldn't burn my private proxies (pp only being used when high pr sites found)... and THAT would increase cpu usage.

I basically hate to see potential of my vps going to waste and want to crank things up without overly spamming junk links and creating a bad looking link profile.

SOOoooo taking your fresh private vs public proxy point with search threads...and the time the tool needs to check larger amounts of private proxies... looks like I need to get a separate proxy harvester in order to crank up the search threads, taking advantage of unused vps power, without busting my public proxies, so I can limit low pr comments, to rank my keywords, and that's the house that jack built. And even then I'm not sure a harvester could keep up. Maybe I will try a month of one of those "shared private" proxies packages at proxybonanza for search... I think 68 of them
