You already can use HMA but it still will not really allow for running with multiple search threads as the IP you are using will keep getting burned by Google (and probably Yahoo) quickly. When you run with proxies you have X number of proxies to use at any one time so that the number of searches being done per IP is spread across all of them whereas with HMA you are only ever using 1 IP address.
