A few issues

Postby gamingmaster42 » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:44 pm

Hey,
I've recently been encountering a few problems with the software.
1. NHS seems to operating in bursts of 15 minutes, then stops for 15 minutes, then continues again. For example it posts links from 12 PM to 12:15PM, does nothing from 12:15 to 12:30 then starts again for 15 minutes. In the status bar, it says "Updated profile http

2. I need to stop NHS every now and then in order to get my links submitted to Lindexed.
This is what is outputted
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Ended SeachQueueHandler Thread
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Sending 17new links to Lindexed: http
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Sending 16new links to Lindexed: http
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Ended QueueHandler Thread
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Sending 10new links to Lindexed:
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Sending 5new links to Lindexed: http
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Ended Monitoring Thread
6/2/2012 1:41 PM | Sending 9new links to Lindexed: http

At which point it says "Threads Stopped" in the status bar, even though the green indicator is still going. I leave it for a few minutes but it doesn't stop. I need to go to Task Manager to end it, so I can restart NHS again.

3. NHS, when started, sometimes says "Threads setup - This is not a log" etc in the status bar, but does not start, even after 10 minutes. After I stop and start it again, it works.

4. Recently it's been finding very few targets, which obviously translates to very few comments being posted. Does anybody have suggestions on how to increase that.

Thanks

Thanks for any help.

NHSEO shouldn't be pausing for any amount of time other than when it is possibly waiting for search results to come in ready for next lot of posting jobs. The way lindexed is being handled currently is how it is designed to be done (this is getting changed in the next update which was due out a couple of weeks ago but will now be in another 2 weeks or so I'm afraid).

The status label that states "This is not a log" is not a log and should not be used in anyway to try and determine what is happening as it never shows any detailed info about what NHSEO is doing. You should always refer to the log. It is possible (and quite probable) that the reason it never gets passed the "Threads Setup ....." in the status label is because there are no new relevant targets being returned by the searches.

The low number of results being returned can be normal or it can be because of bad proxies, you should check your proxy setup first to ensure this is not holding you back. If the proxies are all setup fine and you do not have less than 4 proxies per "Allowed Searching Thread" (7 if using Google for searching).

Another big reason for number of targets lowering is because NHSEO will never post to the same target more than once (unlike any other similar tool) and as such if targets are searched and only targets that have previously been posted to it will not record this as new targets. This can look like the searching is not returning targets but this is because it is discarding targets based on if they have already been posted to. This will pass when the keywords change somewhat significantly. You can also try changing the Search engine in the settings tab to see if that helps to bring in a few more unique targets.

Thanks for your reply :)

Well what I've been seeing is that it posts for 15 minutes, stops for 15 minutes (nothing comes up in the log), then starts searching again. So I'm not sure what it is doing during the 15 minutes.

Okay, well I look forward to that.

Nothing comes up in the log when I click play. Until I stop and start the program again, in which case it finds new targets very quickly.

I have no proxies - would you say this is a problem, maybe I should go buy some private proxies and use them solely for searching? Would that speed things up?

I dont think this is the problem in my case but thanks for the insight.

What amount of memory do you have in your machine and how big is the DATABASE.db3 file in your "My Documents\No Hands SEO" folder? It is unlikely but I guess somehow possible that the db file is getting large and there is not enough memory to handle it all.

You can test this by downloading the portable version and extracting it to its own folder in the "My Documents" folder and seeing if it acts the same with the same settings, you can even try then copying the DATABASE.db3 file from the "My Documents\No Hands SEO" folder into the portable version folder to see if that acts the same.

Hi,
I'm running it on a VPS with 1 GB RAM.
The database seems to be 1.44 GB. Anyway to slim down the DB?

I'll try out running the portable version in both ways you mentioned and see what happens.
Will report back with the results.
Thanks!

Hi,
Portable version without my DB = Works fine
Portable version with my DB = Same problem
So I guess the problem is the DB.

The only way to trim down the database is to remove profiles, currently this won't actually free up the spare space (due to long delay in removing large profiles on slow systems) but it could help to speed up database accesses, always make sure to make a backup of your database before removing any data.

The reason for the stalling in posting could be due to a corrupt database, if you would like to zip/rar your DATABASE.db3 file from your "My Documents\No Hands SEO" folder and upload to a file host such as mediafire.com and send over the link I will happily take a look at it for you.
