Yes I think you have missed the point here.
A website is crawled so that NHSEO can promote the inner pages as well as the homepage, this is to increase the rankings of all pages of the website, it will also promote the whois sites which are only of use for indexing.
When you promote a webpage and/or a website NHSEO will search, post (blog comments to multiple platforms and trackbacks), check and ping (where a link is found) the pages for you. The whois submissions and crawling aspects of NHSEO are only small parts of the process that make up NHSEO.
The vast majority of links will be coming from blog comments or trackbacks whether you opt for a website or a webpage its just that there are more things that can be done with a website that are just not needed for a webpage.
