Since v2.0.16.0 of No Hands SEO there has been a new tab in the Settings section for Profile Settings. These settings are designed to allow you to easily add some variation to your link submissions to help improve variety in your link profile.
Recently Google has rolled out some updates that seem to punish sites that are highly targeted on one or just a few keywords (anchor text), ideally you should have lots of variations to your anchor texts so you can rank for more than just a couple of keywords. In reality the Google updates do not so much punish websites with a low level of anchor text variation as they reward websites with a varied natural looking link profile.
These new settings allow you to easily add a bit of extra randomisation to your link profile by using giving you the option to add in certain generics a certain %age of the time. These settings are shown below:
I will go into each setting individually to explain what it does and how it works but each has a value that can be assigned so that the option is only used for a certain percentage of the submissions. The "Vary Posting URL with Capitalisation" option is independent of the other options whereas only 1 of the other options could ever be applied at any one time.
Vary Posting URL with Capitalisation
This option will add some randomised capitalisation to the domain of the posting URL, this is your page that is being promoted. Using this option will not change any case settings of inner page structure, it will just affect the domain, so it will not break any of your page addresses.
If you enable this option and set it to 10% of the time for every 1 in 10 (on average) posts will use some random casing on your domain:
If you are promoting http://domain.com/pages/content.html
The output could be something like http://dOMaiN.cOm/pages/content.html or some other random capitalisation.
This option is completely independent from the other options so if you set it to 100% then the posting URL will always have some random capitalisation added to it.
I have to admit I am not totally sold on how effective adding random capitalisation to the posting URL and wouldn't use it on my own profiles but it was requested via email so I have included it along with the others, which have a much stronger case for being useful promotion tools.
Vary Anchor Texts with X
These options are cumulative and only one of them can ever be applied at one time as the anchor text is determined by these settings. If you have one or more of these options checked then the anchor text that is posted will be replaced with a generic type, generic anchor text such as "Website" or "Click Here", random name, domain of URL being promoted or a random capitalisation of your chosen anchor texts.
If all 4 of these options are checked and have a percentage of 25% then that means that every time a post is made a generic type anchor text will be used (25% x 4 = 100%). Also if you have all selected and choose 10% that means that 40% of the time your links will have a generic type of anchor text.
Vary Anchor Texts with Generics
A generic is a link with an anchor text such as "Click here", "Website", "more", "read more" etc. Most websites will have some of these links so you can choose to set a percentage of the time that you wish to replace your input anchor text for one of these generics. There are over 200 of these generic anchor texts in NHSEO so it is a good way to get some variation to your anchor text profile.
Vary Anchor Texts with Domain
This will replace your input anchor texts by the domain of the page being promoted.
Vary Anchor Texts with Capitalisation
This will change the capitalisation aspects of your anchor text randomly. It will output a random anchor text that you have input with random capitalisation; all lower case (45%), titled (first letter of every word upper case)(45%) and all upper case (10%)
Vary Anchor Texts with Name
This will replace the anchor text with a random name. No Hands SEO comes built in with XXXXX names from all different countries and backgrounds.
I hope this helps to clear up a few questions that some users may have about these new settings. If anything is confusing or you need more clarification on any of this I would be happy to answer any questions below or via email.
