Better proxy handling

Postby gz123 » Mon Jan 23, 2012 12:32 pm

The new proxy stuff in 1.6.20 is nice and all, but there's too many errors when running public proxies. Of course public ones won't work great in comparison to a direct connection or VPN, but still...

It would be nice to have some settings for:

1. Number of retries (for bad responses etc)
2. Option to remove proxies that timeout after X seconds
3. Option to use "Proxy Sources" like in Scrapebox where one can add a bounch of URI's that SB then scrapes ip:ports from instead of a plain .txt.
4. A bit better handling for when stuff just seem to stop work - sometimes NHS just seem to halt and nothing seem to happen at all when using proxies.

The progress of the prog looks great otherwise -- good work! :)

Another similar request would be to have an advanced settings.ini where one can change more advanced stuff around (like timeouts, max retries etc). I get that NHS is supposed to be a 1-click-app, but there are circumstances where greater control is preferrable and having them in a simple .ini or .txt would be great instead of cluttering the interface with too much "[x] Set something to do something else".

The same goes for profiles as well though. It would be great if one could have each profile as a .txt and have it's pages within that file as well. Then one maybe could add or edit profiles via let's say adding

[PAGES]
http://mypage.com{keyword1|keyword2|keyword3}
http://mypage.com/subpage/{keyword1|keyword2|keyword3}
http://mypage.com/another-subpage/{keyword1|keyword2|keyword3}

Etc. A little more like Scrapebox and its txt-files (if one wants that). It's just so much easier to add 100 pages with keywords to a profile via editing a textfile then doing it in an app. I get that the app-way is more user friendly and all... but when wanting to add 100 pages with 100 {keywords} to each of them the app is quite frustrating to use. I've done that to 5 profiles and it took 2 hours and was as fun as sticking a knife in the eye. ;)

The new Proxy Harvester is ok, but a setting for timeout/min response time (in ms) and stuff like that would be good. You really don't need to include it in NHS's UI. A file like usersettings.ini would do just fine for us that want more control ... :)
