Pinger - now up to 50k Where is it getting the urls to ping?

Hello,

I would like to understand what the NHSEO Pinger is doing.

While my captcha ran out of the trial and I was paying for it and waiting for the
license code, I turned of NHSEO for a couple of days but I left the pinger on.

I thought that the pinger was just pinging addresses of successful postings that NHSEO
had posted to.

BUT I only have 421 verified links, but Pinger has 51453 in its list and has pinged
about 49000 of them. Where are these urls coming from ?

If they re not the 421 posted links, what is the value of pinging them ?

Many thanks.
David B

If you have set No Hands Indexer to send pages to pinger then each link you send to NHI will become hundreds or thousands sent to NHP.

These pages from NHI are pages that now have links to your linking pages, some people prefer to ping them, some don't; the choice is yours to be honest.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your answer.

So, they are "pages that now have links to your linking pages".

So I guess there could be a benefit, but then if many people are using these links then they would already be crawled by
search engines ?

Ummm.

Jim - do you ping them all ?

I think the software is great, I just want to understand it so I get the best results.

Thanks.
David.

The benefit is that you are trying to get your links noticed by the search engines. Some of the links created by NHSEO will be on pages that will already be indexed but the majority of the links created by No Hands Indexer will be on newly created pages and as such only some of them will be indexed on their own. It is hard to say whether or not there is a large benefit to pinging your indexing pages.
