Anchor Text

Hey Jimbo,

I didn't notice this until lately, but it seems one of the updates must have changed the anchor text so that you could place different anchor text for each page of a website? Is this something new, or did I just miss that all along? Also, if there is anchor text for the main page only, will it use that for the other pages? If not, what happens if anchor text is empty for the additional pages? Thanks for clarifying!

This has been in for a long time now, I think it was put in last year. When you enter your profile it will use the profile anchor text on every submission unless it submits a page with its own anchor text and then it will use that anchor text instead.

If all of your pages have nothing in the anchor text column of your pages list it will just use the profile anchor text for all pages. Also if you have no anchor text for 1 page and an anchor text set for your other page (in a 2 page profile) every time the page without a page specific anchor text is submitted it will use the profile anchor text and whenever the other page is submitted it will use its anchor text.

Using different anchor texts for different pages is a great way to get really relevant backlinks to each page of your websites.
