A lot of direct visit

Since I start using NHS I see in GA that is a lot of direct visitors to my site. Is this normal?

Does NHS improve traffic to site or just ranking?

NHSEO can generate some traffic direct from the links it creates but the majority of the reason for using a tool like NHSEO is to help in increasing rankings which should help to increase traffic from search engines.
