Adding Pages in Profile Handler

Postby revekozu » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:19 pm

I'm about to jump in to making a lot more profiles and then bulk adding pages with custom anchor text using the format in a txt file

Code: Select all
http://domain.com/page1{([SPLIT])}{Anchor text1|Anchor2}
http://domain.com/page2{([SPLIT])}{Anchor text1|Anchor2}

I always have to ask this spintax question. Is it flat spin only or can it do this?

Code: Select all
http://domain.com/page1{([SPLIT])}{{Anchor|Rudder|Mast} text1|Anchor2}
http://domain.com/page2{([SPLIT])}{Anchor {text1|text2|}|Anchor2}

I'm also wondering at what point should I consider using the portable version? Seems like it would be nice to be able to work on profiles while other portables keep running.

But how much overhead cpu use and memory would be added say for example... running 50 threads in one instance vs running 25 threads in each of two instances.

cost benefit analysis....

Nested spintax is absolutely fine, it doesn't have to be flat.

Currently running anywhere from 50-100 threads is likely to use upto 100% of a core, it all depends on how your system runs. Personally my 8 core work system will max out a core at about 100 threads so in theory I could easily run 8 instances at 100 threads or probably 16 at 40. I don't find memory to be much of an issue on anything with more than 2Gb of memory but having hundreds profiles / 1000s pages per profile will add to your memory usage.

If you have lots of pages, lots of keywords and some limits (OBL limit, PR min, bad words, blocked domains) and profiles that are crawling thousands of pages you will be adding extra work on the system rather than your internet connection.

The main piece of advice I could give really is get an instance setup with your ideal settings and take a look at its system usage to give a better idea of what it is going to use up in your system
