Google Update coming

Postby dynamicvb » Tue Apr 24, 2012 11:10 pm

This is an interesting read about changes Google are about to make. The one thing I found really interesting was the graphic on the page talking about webspam. Lots of mentions of No Hands SEO on that graphic. Just thought I would share.

To me this talks more about in-content tactics such as keyword stuffing and heavily spun content that is virtually unreadable and serves no purpose other than as a "thin-affiliate" site or a made for adsense (MFA) style site. All of this has happened numerous times in the past and is unlikely to stop any time soon.

Through all of the panda updates that have meant to be the end of backlinking people are still seeing good gains from using a variety of sources and if the content on a site is decent and is providing value to the visitor then it is likely to see good results long term.

I don't really see much here other than Google wants websites with better content which has always been the case. Good rankings come from backlinks and good content, I am not sure you can have one and not the other and still rank over a long time.

Any idea where they scraped that page from to get all that NOHANDSSEO information in it? That's definitely a concern as that data could say anything about anything, but why no hands seo?

I have no idea and it is of no consequence, it is an example of keyword stuffing pure and simple. If NHSEO were able to get a site penalised I would have seen it happen on nohandsseo.com as that has been extensively promoted by my tool, I still have PR of 2 and all of my rankings and traffic.

I have used NHSEO on many of my websites and have not seen a single drop in rankings or traffic across the board (other than the usual fluctuations on the usual sites), in fact I have seen a slight increase across the board.

This update is about content, it is clearly stated in that blog and everything that has occurred since it would strongly suggest it is a content driven update and not about links.

I am not the only NHSEO users to post their experiences and have positive things to say since this update, others have had NHSEO running 24/7 direct on their websites for long times with no drop or some websites dropped and not others, if NHSEO was harming websites there should be a drop on all websites or at least most but this is just not the case.

Below is a bunch of screenshots I took yesterday to show that none of my websites have been impacted:
NHSEO traffic stats
Server traffic stats (around 20 domains):
A client website

If it was NHSEO that was causing these recent drops then there would be at least some dropp off in traffic on one of my domains. As google has stated and as all of the evidence will prove, this update is about content and the over-optimisation of on-site factors and not about NHSEO in any way.

Thanks for the information. I tend to agree, since some of my sites shot up and some tanked. The ones that shot up probably got a much bigger dose of the software than the ones that failed.
