Spammy Trackbacks

Postby Itachi » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:43 pm

Hi Everyone

I want to discuss about an experience I had regarding No Hands SEO

I was going to buy a VPS for running No Hands SEO 24/7, but they told me they don't allow anymore No Hands SEO, because they get alot of spam complains from webmasters, it seems that No Hands SEO keeps making trackbacks always in all pages of the domain and it repeats to do that over and over, anyways this does makes no sense because if you go to settings you may check "Post Once per Domain only", they told me that No Hands SEO seems to hurt rankings too, but all they do is just inserting their url, few keywords, and maybe always the same anchor text, same comment content file, and then press run, I hardly doubt they will get improvements in this way.

I'd like to hear Jimbo thoughts about this thing of the Trackbacks, plus I suggest Jimbo to work on the thing about creating quality comments, I want to see in "Profiles"( that module where you ned to fill URL, keywords, anchor text) a part for scraping comments and then spin them, or maybe a little form for writing your own comment and then spin it, and a little bar for proxies too or people will get only PR0 backlinks if the thingy of proxies and google is not explained in detail.

I'm not really surprised that most VPS companies don't want to host NHSEO due to the amount of comments and trackbacks it is able to send out when using a fast VPS connection. I am sure lots of people have been using BlackBox VPSs without issue though if you wanted to get in touch with them.

There have not been any reports of posting of multiple comments / trackbacks for a long time now (I think v1.4.5 was the last time) so that isn't really an issue and the post once per domain has always been working for both comments and trackbacks that I have seen or been made aware of for a very long time.

I have however had the displeasure of reading some users views on NHSEO and how it has hurt rankings only to have it be revealied the site is only 4 days old or that NHSEO was run on the site for a grand total of an hour which wouldn't be enough to do anything of great note. Every claim about any tool or method getting you penalised by search engines is very vague on details or proven to be patently false very quickly.

When people actually see a drop in ranking on newer websites it is often because they have thousands of links within the first month or so of being online and have little in the way of new content, this does not stand up to scrutiny when manually reviewed by Google but if you have good content and are not breaking their ToS they are very likely to leave your site alone and move on to the next. Content is far more important in the long run as a site full of duplicate or suspect (cloaking, keyword spam etc) content is only ever a manual review away from being dumped.

You already cans set comments per profile and there already is a rewriter built into NHSEO, just not one like TBS and I actually forgot to attach it to the custom comment field but that is already in v1.6.17 due to be released hopefully by monday or early next week. The text rewriter helper tool can be accessed by right clicking on any input field that accepts spintax (except the custom comments fields).

Yeah it hardly affected many users either. It was maybe 6-8 weeks ago and was happening for a day or two.

I forgot to mention that trackbacks are created from the title of the page more often than not, it will only post a comment if there was an error pulling the title or no title exists.
